Properties of Sound Waves
Vibration– A vibration is a rapid back-and-forth movement.
Sound – Sound is a vibration that can be heard.
Parts of a Sound wave-
Frequency- Frequency is the number of sound waves that pass a point in a second. Frequency is measured in a unit called hertz.
Speed of sound- Speed of sound in air is about 335m, (1,100ft) per second.
Characteristics of Sound:
Pitch- Pitch is how high or low a sound is
Volume- Volume is how loud or soft the sound is

Timbre: Timbre is the quality of sound that distinguishes it from other sounds of the same pitch and volume.
Uses of Sound:
Seeing with sound is called echolocation
Echo is sound wave that bounces back toward its source
